Live the Questions

I have made one resolution for 2008 and that is to read 30 books. That is about 2 and half per month, so I think I can do it. This is in addition to reading the Hebrew Bible. I guess if I find myself falling short of the goal I can count some of those!

Yesterday I started reading Krista Tippett’s, Speaking of Faith. I have a link to her website of her radio show by the same name. She does some amazing interviews and takes you on this journey that is sound bite free and really digs down deep for something substantive.

She quotes a favorite line by Rilke

I believe in everything that has not yet been said.

and from Letters to a Young Poet,

to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.
